APMT Apapa gets new DMD 20 Aug 2015 2:57 AM  APM Terminals Apapa has announced the appointment of Mr. Olufemi Ransome-Kuti as its deputy managing director. A statement issued by the company’s Communication Coordinator, Onajite Olusakin, said that Ransome-Kuti would bring to his new role 14 years of experience in supply chain operations and project management. Prior to joining APM Terminals, Ransome-Kuti had worked with Lafarge WAPCO where he served as the General Manager, Logistics and Procurement and with Nestle Central and West Africa Region Supply Chain Division. The statement said Ransome-Kuti had a proven record in corporate management, formulation and implementation of effective strategies, providing measurable business improvement and contributing greatly to company’s success. Ransome- Kuti was quoted as saying, “The maritime industry is a major revenue earner and the port is the gateway to the nation’s economy. APM Terminals is a key player at the premiere port and a major employer of labour with over 1,000 Nigerians working at the facility. I am pleased to be a part of this company and look forward to an exciting career ahead.” The largest container facility by capacity of the three serving Lagos, Nigeria’s business centre, APM Terminals Apapa is considered the busiest container terminal in the West African Region, handling nearly 45 per cent of Nigeria’s inbound containers with a container throughput of 700,000 TEUs in 2014. The firm said that it had undertaken a $350m investment and expansion programme since 2006 resulting in rising container volume and productivity, with waiting time for vessel berthing eliminated.
