Special Marshals build N11m hall for FRSC in Calabar 05 Sep 2015 3:11 AM Special Marshals in Cross River State has built an N11 million multipurpose hall through direct labour for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Calabar, the Cross River State. This is as the special marshals disclosed on Friday, their plans to equip the hall and office complex built for the state command of the FRSC. Speaking during the unveiling of the ‘Hall of Fame’, the state Coordinator of Special Marshals, Archibong Ironbar, said the multipurpose hall was the first of its kind to be built by marshals for FRSC in the country. He said his team decided to embark on the project in the command because of challenges in office accommodation and hall for holding meetings. Ironbar disclosed that the cost of the project was minimal, considering the size of the structure because it was done through direct labour by members who are professionals in the engineering and allied sectors. He said, “This is the first of its kind to be built by special marshals in any FRSC office in the country. We executed this project through direct labour by taking advantage of our members who belong to different professions in the engineering and allied sectors who offered their services. “As a result of their efforts, the cost was brought down considerably. We spent N11 million to build this project, but estate valuers have estimated the cost to be in the region of N45m. It was not easy carrying out a community-based project because people will always want to know how their monies are spent.” Copyright PUNCH. All rights reserved.
