sir talentz Welcome To Sir Talentz's Blog lindaikeji naij.com Sunday, 16 August 2015 LUTH doctor suspend eight-week strike The Association of Resident Doctors, Lagos University Teaching Hospital chapter, Idi-Araba, Lagos, has suspended its eight weeks strike over the non-reversal of the skipping policy for doctors working at the hospital. The LUTH ARD President, Dr. Moronkola Ramon, in a statement on Sunday said the doctors would resume work today on Monday. Ramon said the association called off the strike following appeal from ex-President, Chief. Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, civil society groups and well meaning Nigerians. He stated, “We called off the strike based on the appeal by his Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and 0ther well meaning Nigerians. It is our hope that the hospital management will reciprocate this gesture by adhering to the terms of agreement in ensuring smooth implementation of the Federal Government directive on the adjusted grade level among other issues which have lingered for too long. “While we reaffirm the legitimacy of our demands, we want to appeal to members of the public who were the direct victims of this impasse for their understanding and constructive criticism. “We hereby call on the Federal Government to institute a probe into the immediate and remote cause of crisis in the health sector. The strike could have been averted if the relevant authorities adhered to the Federal Government circular on skipping that was issued on the 19th December, 2013, from the Office of the Head of Civil Service.” The doctors embarked on an indefinite strike on June 16, when LUTH’s management stopped skipping, a policy whereby doctors were given double promotion. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Links to this post Shekau claims he is 'still in charge' of Boko Haram The leader of Nigeria’s Boko Haram denied he had been killed or ousted as chief of the jihadist group in an audio recording released Sunday attributed to him by security experts. In the eight-minute Hausa-language message, Abubakar Shekau rebuffed claims by Chadian leader Idriss Deby that he had been replaced and called the president a “hypocrite” and a “tyrant”. “It is indeed all over the global media of infidels that I am dead or that I am sick and incapacitated and have lost influence in the affairs of religion,” he said in the recording released on social media. “It should be understood that this is false. This is indeed a lie. If it were true, my voice wouldn’t have been heard, now that I am speaking.” Deby declared on August 12 that efforts to combat neighbouring Nigeria’s Boko Haram jihadists had succeeded in “decapitating” the group and would be wrapped up “by the end of the year”. Deby told reporters in the capital N’Djamena Boko Haram was no longer led by the fearsome Shekau and that his successor, whom he named as Mahamat Daoud, was open to talks. “Gratitude be to Allah and with his help, I have not disappeared. I am still alive and I am not dead. And I will not die until my time appointed by Allah is up,” Shekau said in the message. The SITE Intelligence Group verified the authenticity of the message, and an AFP correspondent with extensive experience of reporting Boko Haram said it exactly resembled Shekau’s voice in previous recordings. Taunts Shekau’s absence from Boko Haram videos in recent months has fuelled speculation that he might have been killed or wounded. He has not spoken publicly since he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group in an audio recording released on March 7. The jihadist commander refers to himself in the new recording for the first time as “leader of the west Africa wing” of IS and pays homage to its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, referring to him as the “Caliph of Muslims”. He taunted Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, who came to power on May 29 vowing to crush Boko Haram and ordered his military chiefs last week to end the insurgency within three months. “This ostentatious person, a liar — I mean Buhari, who raised arms to crush us in three months. You Buhari, why didn’t you say in three years?” Shekau demanded. “We will certainly fight you by the grace of Allah until we establish Allah’s law everywhere on Earth.” Boko Haram has been waging a six-year uprising against the Nigerian state, which has claimed more than 15,000 lives. The jihadists have repeatedly extended their northeastern insurgency into border areas of Cameroon, Chad and Niger. In recent weeks suicide bombers, many of them women, have staged several attacks in Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad. The four countries, plus Benin, have pledged troops towards a regional 8,700-strong force aimed at ending the insurgency and due to deploy within days. ‘Global terrorist’ Speculation about Shekau’s condition — and even his true identity — has been rampant in Nigeria for years. The wanted Islamist leader’s whereabouts are unknown, but he has in the past made himself heard whenever he has been proclaimed dead. Some experts and Nigerian security officials insist “Shekau” is a composite character, with different militant fighters stepping into the role at different times. The original Abubakar Shekau — the son of poor farmers who became radicalised in a series of theological schools before taking over Boko Haram in 2010 — actually died months, or possibly several years ago, according to the security services. But the United States and other experts have questioned the credibility of that claim. “Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath,” the insurgent leader, who has been sanctioned by the UN Security Council and declared a “global terrorist” by the United States, said in a video released in October last year. He issued a similarly boastful denial in 2013 after the military claimed he may have died from a gunshot wound. Posted by SIR TALENT'Z at 17:09 No comments: Email This BlogThis! Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who hosted the families, in company of members of the state executive council, expressed satisfaction that the state government was able to locate 55 parents ‎of the children. Governor Oshiomhole, who said his administration was moved by the number of children and infant affected by the insurgency, commended the efforts of the Nigerian Red Cross in identifying the parents of the IDPs. He, however, urged the Nigerian military to intensify its operations in the North-East in order to enable the 112 families, who are willing to relocate, to resettle in their ancestral homes. Oshiomhole, who also made cash donations to the families, said efforts were ongoing to reunite more children, as nothing could substitute parental care. One of the parent, Mr. Lukas Saidu, who spoke on behalf of other families, expressed appreciation to the state government for showing compassion, especially as a former labour president. “We thank you for wiping the tears from our eyes because many of us have been in tears since we were displaced from our homes,” Saidu added. Earlier, the coordinator of the IDP centre, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, said the action of the government had been of great relief to the centre, which caters for over 1,000 persons since 1992. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Links to this post My detractors'll face disgrace — wike My detractors’ll face disgrace – Wike 16 Aug 2015 6:05 PM RIVERS State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has declared that those planning to truncate the lifespan of his administration will be disgraced by God at the end of the day. Wike said that his administration by virtue of strategic planning, had confounded those who claimed that road construction could not take place at the height of the rainy season. Addressing a congregation at the Lord’s Chosen Renewal Charismatic Ministry in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Wike said that his victory at the polls was ordained by God and made possible by the prayers of clerics, including the pastors of the Lord’s Chosen. “Those who are fighting and plotting to truncate the lifespan of the mandate freely given to me by the people of Rivers State will be disgraced by the God of the Lord’s Chosen. “The way the God of the Lord’s Chosen did it on April 11, that is how he will do it again,” the governor said. The governor recalled that it was at the Lord’s Chosen Renewal Charismatic Ministry, Rivers State headquarters, that he made a vow that if the rumour that he was a member of a cult was true, he should not win the governorship election. Wike recalled how he went ahead to win the governorship election to prove that the rumour spread by the opposition was false. According to him, “If you recall, I did say that if I belong to a secret society, I should not win the governorship elections of Rivers State. “By the special grace of God, the pastor prayed for me before the congregation, he prayed for me in private, and he has been praying with me. To the Glory of God, the elections came and God Almighty triumphed.” He directed the immediate commencement of the road to the Rivers State headquarters of the Lord’s Chosen Renewal Charismatic Ministry. The governor also directed the interlocking of the premises of the church in line with the promise he made to the Church faithful during the campaigns. He said both projects will be completed before September 7, 2015. Posted by SIR TALENT'Z at 16:57 No comments: Email This BlogThis! The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, cautioned that any navy personnel guilty of aiding and abetting oil theft would be treated as an economic saboteur. Ibas issued this warning while addressing officers and men of the NNS Pathfinder in Port Harcourt during his inaugural tour of formations in Rivers State on Saturday. This is just as the he said that the Nigerian Navy destroyed 78 illegal oil refineries across Rivers State in the security outfit’s latest fight against oil theft. He urged any of them involved in oil theft to desist from the act, even as he added that he did not believe that some of them were involved in the illicit act until it was proven. “If you have been party to illegal duties out there, my advice to you from this day is that as I finish addressing you, you should discountenance and dissociate yourselves from such. The Navy will not condone any illegal act out there. I am talking with a particular reference to you aiding and abating crude oil theft. Share to Twitter Share to Facebook Share to Pinterest Links to this post Jonathan's kinsmen protests plan to relocate NCMDB project Youths and kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan in Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, have protested an alleged plan to relocate a project sited in one of their communities by the Nigeria Content Management Development Board. It was learnt that NCMDB acquired a parcel of land at Emeyal community during the administration of Jonathan to establish an Oil and Gas Park. But following the exit of the President, some forces were said to have mounted pressure on the board to move the project to another local government area in the state. While sources within the community claimed that some persons working for the state government were making moves to take the project to Toru-Orua, the community of Governor Seriake Dickson in Sagbama Local Government Area, others said the government had nothing to do with the issue. Checks have indicated that the suspected moves to relocate the project have unsettled Ogbia with different youth groups threatening mayhem. It was learnt that the Ijaw Youth Council, Ogbia clans, Niger Delta Youth Movement, the Ogbia Brotherhood and Emeyal Youth Group had held a series of meetings over the development. They were said to have written a protest letter to the Executive Secretary of the content board warning him against any plot to remove the Oil and Gas Park. The letter was signed by Chairman, IYC, Ogbia Clans, Osaanya B. Osaanya; President, Ogbia Brotherhood Youth Council, Daziba Apiri; Secretary-General, NDYM, Isaac Amakuro, President, Emeyal Youth Group, Victor Otobo and the National Union of Ogbia Students. In the letter, the stakeholders appreciated the decision of the content board to locate the oil and gas park in Ogbia, the council where oil was first struck in commercial quantity in Nigeria. They, however, expressed concerns over speculations that the board was under pressure to move the project to another area. They said, “The Ogbia youths want to inform the board that the project is welcomed in Ogbia and advise the board to remain resolute to the Act that established it and keep politics out of its operations. “Ogbia youths will stand to resist any attempts from any quarters, no matter how highly placed, the individual may be, to remove the oil gas park out of Ogbia because the project stands to develop Ogbia and its environs. “It is an established fact that the board has acquired a portion of land in Emeyal community in Ogbia and we pray for the board to continue the project in there. We will not accept any attempt to move it out of the place.” Posted by SIR TALENT'Z at 16:52 No comments: Email This BlogThis!
