Kudos to Ajimobi

Kudos to Ajimobi 24 Aug 2015 12:00 AM I give kudos to the courageous and thoughtful Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State for introducing fees in the state-owned schools and abolishing the practice of government paying students’ examination fees. Every parent should contribute to their children’s education. After all, most of these parents, who put their children in public-financed schools, can afford to buy new ‘aso-ebi’ within eight days of the birth of a new baby in their neighbourhoods. Many spend on their concubines and give birth at will, marry new wives and change husbands. Let the wealthy ones in the state complement government’s efforts by setting up foundations or charities to help those indigent students whose parents cannot afford to pay for their education.
